An Aid to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Andy Owusu, has cast serious doubt over the presidential ambition of one-time Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi (KMA), Kojo Bonsu to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the 2020 polls.
In Andy Owusu’s estimation, the former KMA boss “disgraced” himself when in office before the Manhyia Palace and the people of Kumasi therefore ‘unfit to lead NDC and Ghanaians in general’ in any capacity.
“I have no interest or whatsoever in the opposition NDC internal political arrangements but I see the immediate past KMA boss as unfit for the position he intends to vie in his party”, the prolific writer observed.
Mr. Andy Owusu, therefore, recollects not long ago to the Kumasi Traditional Council banned the then Kumasi mayor from Manhyia, over his ‘gross insubordination’ to the Asante monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.“Kojo Bonsu, in 2016, got himself in a mess when he incurred the wrath of authorities at the Manhyia Palace, following a letter he wrote, questioning the legitimacy of a representative of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in the process involving the yet-to-be-completed Kejetia/Central Market Redevelopment Project”, he pointed out.
“After several failed attempts by the KTC to get the former mayor, to appear before them, they then held rituals, killed a ram and use its blood to excommunicate Kojo Bonsu from the palace, a move which subsequently forced him to resign from his post as the KMA boss”
“The excommunication tag hanging on his neck will not permit him to enter Manhyia Palace”, according to Mr. Andy Owusu
“I see the ambition of Kojo Bonsu as laughable because how can he be at Manhyia to introduce himself as a flagbearer of his party when he has been banned from entering the palace”, the writer concluded.
