The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) says the situation political parties are creating in the country is making it unsafe for its own citizens to live.
The NCCE which is responsible for educating the public on their civic duties, rights and what to do if any abuses occur, has also condemned the attack on the Minister of Monitoring and Evaluation Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei during the weekend by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, Delta Force
Speaking in an interview with the nation’s broadcaster GBC’s Behind the News Program, the National Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education, Josephine Nkrumah said the attack on the minister indicates Ghanaians are not “secured”.
“So why do we have a group of persons who periodically mass up and cause all manner of attacks on personalities, on government and state properties and nothing is done about it? However, I strongly believe that the people of Ghana are no longer secured because there are groups who can go against regulations with total disregard to rule of law”. Josephine Nkrumah said in her interview monitored by owassonline.com
The NCCE Boss also wondered why security agencies have not been able to clear the mess created by the miscreants.
According to her, there is no need for political parties to form such groups since the country has security agencies working.
“We are in a country that there are people who have security apparatus in this country and they work. Why these groups? She quizzed.
